Beltane

Beltane

Lets keep this simple. No one loves an auto biography, I'm just here to tickle your fancy.

Beltane is one of the Wheels fire festivals. Having roots with the farming and countryside peoples' of Europe, its celebrated or recognised by many different people and groups today. Where its easy to focus to the magickal or witching aspects of Beltane (and quite right too), I want to keep this accessible to everyone.

A huge part in marking many of the Celtic/Pagan Wheel of the Years' festivals was to bring about blessings of some kind to the local community, and Beltane is no different. May 1st/ Beltane was marking the tipping point into summer. Elevated light levels and heightened energy to come. Lush, long days, plentiful foods and warm evenings. So to make sure they were in for the best summer possible the pastoral people would host celebrations and jump fires as a way to gather the community together and kick start that energetic shift! The fires were to symbolise the growing power of the sun as well as for cleansing any bad luck gathered through the spring months. Leaping over to show the shift from one season to the next, without fear and full of gusto.

Where we wouldn't all use the term "blessings" nowadays, we do understand the idea of wanting to surround ourselves with positive people, energy and attitudes in order to attract/bring in better things to our lives. Beltane is the perfect energetic shift to do so. Below I've listed some easy-breezy, not totally witchy, things you can do that are in keeping with celebrating Beltane.

- Have a fire of some kind. Safety first kids, I know we cant all have bonfires, but a fire of any kind is great. From one in your yard in an old heat proof dish/cake pan right down to a candle or even incense with the intention that its for Beltane and to bring in that new energy!

- Bake/make food and share with your nearest and dearest. Heck if the weathers good, then a pick-nick is 100% the way to go.

- Spend time in nature or bring some nature in doors. Surround yourself with flowers 🌺

- Write some intentions and burry or burn them (again be safe kids)

Most of all enjoy and bring together your community. Raising energy together fortifies fruitfulness for everyone! Merry Beltane!
